My Life of Travels and Adventures: Painted Pumpkins

Painted Pumpkins

29 October 2013

Last week, when Neil was away I picked up 2 pie pumpkins at the grocery store for Reid and I to decorate.
I wasn't really sure how this was going to turn out but I had plans to paint them.

Once we were home, I decided to tape our initials in the pumpkins...
R for Reid
M for Mommy... Or McGarvey (if Neil asks).

While I was taping, Reid was lining up our paint.
I have never tried real paint with Reid.  We have always painted with edible paint or yogurt... So I figured this would be a disastrous project complete with eating paint.
Surprisingly, it went really well.
Reid actually painted with a paint brush
And didn't eat any of the paint.
Of course there was the one meltdown when I thought we were done and tried to take the paint away
Once we were really done, I let the pumpkins dry overnight.
I removed the tape and then spray them with clear coat.
Tada.

  1. Brilliant idea. I have been trying to think of something fun and easy to do for Halloween with my four year old. This will be perfect.

  2. Reid is too cute and this is such a great idea for little ones to be involved.
