My Life of Travels and Adventures: June 2013

Simple Patriotic Wreath

27 June 2013

With only a few days before July 4th, I decided it was time to switch out my Spring Wreath for a Patriotic Wreath.
Although, it seems like I have a bunch of craft stuff... in reality my supplies for this project was limited.  I quickly dissembled the flowers from the Spring Wreath, found wooden USA letters (duplicates from the Alphabet Wall in the nursery) and some random scraps of ribbon and started on a simple wreath.
I painted the USA red, white and blue (original right?)... Then hot glued them together and then to the wreath.

I made a couple red and white "bows".  I just looped the ribbon and tied them with a pipe cleaner (Hey I said my supplies were quite limited).
See pretty in the front... business in the back.
I used the pipe cleaners to attach the bows to the wreath and viola...
A simple patriotic wreath...

What have you made recently?  There has to be a "proper" way to make bows.  Off to pinterest to see how...

Toddler Approved - Travel Tips - Medicine Pouch

20 June 2013

With Reid's AutoImmune Neutropenia fevers are of great concerns for us.   So when we travel a thermometer and medicine is essential for us.

I always bring a thermometer (and since we still take Reid's temperature rectally, vaseline).

I also carry Motrin and Tylenol.  We have found that Reid's fevers need both medications.

My final item in our goody pouch is some athlete's foot cream... Perfect for those random red tushies!

I used a small make up bag to hold all our goodies.
So there you have it... What we have found to be our essential medication for traveling with a toddler.

How do you upcycle your old make-up bags?  On a side note, what is the real purpose of vaseline?

Finisher Medal - Outtakes

18 June 2013

Kerrie & I were beat after running the Buffalo Half Marathon... so beat that we did not take finisher pictures immediately after.

So the next day, hopped up on some pain medication and fully showered, we headed outside... medals and all.. to take some pictures.

Of course, when Reid's two favorite people are together... he must be present and accounted for too.

At first Reid needed to inspect my medal...
And then Aunt Kerrie's as well...
Then he was over it...
We did manage to get in one decent picture...
Before we were photobombed by a toddler and a birdfeeder...
In true Mommy fashion... I am able to remain smiling and looking at the camera while accepting a random item from a roaming toddler...

Had any good photobombs lately?

Toddler Approved - Travel Tips - Quick Outing Edition

13 June 2013

In some aspects, I feel like having a toddler is easier and others... well not so much.

Running to the store with a toddler in tow can be...
Easy or Hard. It all depends on his mood.

I try to anticipate his needs and carry the bare minimum.

My new carry-all bag (which was on my Mother's Day list... Thanks hubby!) fits everything perfectly!
I carry a small A Goo Baby Diaper Pouch with 2/3 diapers, a small pack of wipes and a couple disposable sticky placemats.
I also have a snack for Reid.  I love these munchkin snack cups... Perfect for when Reid throws them out of the cart.
This particular day Reid had these Super Simple Baby Muffins in his cup.  He still loves these muffins and they are soooo simple to make for Momma.

Final item that is always carried... some water.   An essential of my carry-all bag is a side pocket that fits a water cup for easy access.
I always carry this stuff when Reid is with me.

Most of the time I carry a binky also.

What do you always bring for your kids? Any tips for me as he gets older?
