How I/We Did...

So how did I do on my weekend to do list...

  • Organize and count breast milk in the freezer   Completed Friday Night.  (I have 10 gallons of milk in the freezer, eeesh!)
  • Organize hand me down baby clothes Completed Sunday Night while Neil gave Reid a bath.
  • Store Reid's outgrown baby clothes Completed Sunday Night
  • Laundry (We have over a weeks worth to do, ugh!) Completed Saturday and Sunday. Everything is folded but not put away yet.  That will be Mondays goal.
  • Trim the rose bushes  Completed Saturday Afternoon.  Then on Sunday we transplanted one of the rose bushes.  It gives us a lot more room on the small patio we have.  Hopefully, the rose bush will survive.
  • Take pictures for Mother' Day cards Completed Friday Afternoon
  • Order said Mother's Day cards
  • Order Mother's Day presents  Completed Saturday Morning
  • Figure out Kerrie's Graduation present
  • Order pictures Completed Saturday Morning
  • Finish & order photo book  Completed Saturday Morning
  • Return some stuff to Target  Completed Saturday Afternoon.
  • Short shopping trip to Target Completed Saturday Afternoon. I planned for a short trip but it was really a long one.  Oh well.
  • Mail a couple returns to Amazon
  • Deposit some money in the bank
  • Neil wants to finish cutting down the trees out front which may lead to a Home Depot trip for some dirt Completed Saturday Afternoon/ Sunday Afternoon.  The trees were cut down Saturday Afternoon but we went to Home Depot Sunday Afternoon and then spent the rest of the day moving dirt, laying bricks and seeding the lawn.
  • We also want to lay some of our extra bricks down near the patio Completed Sunday Afternoon.
  • Relax! Kinda.  I did get to sleep in until 8am on Sunday.  Of course, I was up till 11 the night before, then up at 2, 5, and 6 with the baby.

So all in all we got most things done on the list.  Not too shabby!

Boots

Apparently dressing Reid in camouflage pants means he needs matching boots.
And of course the funny faces ensued.

Weekend To Do List...

We will be home all weekend this coming weekend, well at least Reid and I will be.  Neil has to work on Saturday again.  I am so excited to have him home with us on Sunday.

Anyway, we have a bunch of stuff that needs to get done around the house.  Some still left over from our to do list form before Reid was born.

So without further ado, our/my weekend to do list...

  • Organize and count breast milk in the freezer
  • Organize hand me down baby clothes
  • Store Reid's outgrown baby clothes
  • Laundry (We have over a weeks worth to do, ugh!)
  • Trim the rose bushes
  • Take pictures for Mother' Day cards
  • Order said Mother's Day cards
  • Order Mother's Day presents
  • Figure out Kerrie's Graduation present

  • Relax!
We will see how much gets done.  I suspect not too much.

Spring has sprung...

The daffodils are out...
The trees have buds...
And the babies have appeared...

Book Review: Night Road

Holy moly, I read a book.  A book that does not rhyme, does not have fuzzy animals and is not bright colored.  Woohoo.

I really have enjoyed the books by Kristen Hannah so when I saw Night Road on the shelf at Target recently, I snatched it right up.  Of course I wasn't really sure when I would get around to reading it...

It took a couple months but I finished it and loved it.

According to goodreads... "For a mother, life comes down to a series of choices.
To hold on…
To let go..
To forget…
To forgive…
Which road will you take?

For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows—her twins, Mia and Zach—are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.

Jude does everything to keep her kids safe and on track for college. It has always been easy-- until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time her kids leave the house, she worries about them.

On a hot summer’s night her worst fears come true. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget…or the courage to forgive.

NIGHT ROAD is vivid, emotionally complex novel that raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love."

Night Road took me a bit to get into.  After the first background bit,  I was hooked and did not want to put it down.  Like all of Kristin Hannah's other books, I really enjoyed it.

Aunt Kerrie's Blanket

While Reid & I were hanging out with my family in New York, Reid discovered the fun of laying on Aunt Kerrie's really soft blanket.
There were lots of silly faces, thumb sucking and drooling which made for some pretty cute pictures.
I love his big bright blue eyes.  I am hoping that they stay this shade of blue but we shall see.
Of course now that he can grab things some of our photos end up like this.
He makes the funniest faces sometimes.
But in the end his fingers usually end up in his mouth.
I am now on the look out for a really soft blanket like Aunt Kerrie has for us at home.

A Full Week

Reid & I spent the past week at my parents house in New York.  It included a lot of cuddling and kissing for a cute little baby.  I took a bunch of pictures also.  More to come...

Tummy Time

Up until the past week Reid hasn't really tolerated tummy time at all.  I was lucky if I could get him to stay on his tummy for 2 minutes at time and usually ended up with 5-10 minutes of tummy time for the entire day.

Well this past week or two he has started handling more tummy time.  Well last week he rolled over for the first time and now enjoys tummy time for 5 minutes at a time.  I have no idea what is different but I am just going with it.

Anyways, tummy time makes for some cute pictures of his face.
However it often switches to screaming.
He loves when daddy plays with him too.

Jumperoo

Reid loves to stand.  He would stand all day.  My arms however cannot handle that. So enter the jumperoo.  I picked this little (haha not) gem up at the one and only kids consignment sale that I have ever been to for only $30.  Score!

After a nap of cleaning it was ready to go.

Reid loves it.

He jumps and bops around in the thing.  When he jumps it lights up and plays music which he loves.

He has not mastered the turning part yet.  Someday.

Oh yeah, he is a little short so we are getting good use out of our game of trivia pursuit.

My Day with a Three Month Old

Three months?  Crazy.   First off Reid and I woke up way to early this morning.  Actually, the last couple days have been the same.  Neil's alarm clock has woken Reid up and I can't get him back to sleep so we get up at the crack of dawn.

Secondly, I almost didn't use today after I saw how much he is sleeping.  This whole lots of sleep thing during the day is new.  I used to be lucky if his naps were 30-45 minutes long.  Now he is pretty consistently taking 1 hour naps.  I don't know if it because he is now napping in his crib or going through a growth spurt or a combination of both these things.

5:50am - Neil's alarm goes off and Reid starts to stir.
6:00 - Reid is awake.  I try to cuddle and rock him back to sleep but he is having none of it.
6:10 - Feeding #1 and Reid pees on me as he finished up
6:20 - Neil changes him and dresses him for the day.  Then we all head downstairs.  Neil washes last nights bottles as I load the washing machine and Reid sits in the bumbo and talks to Neil.
7:00 - Naptime for Reid.  Considering we usually sleep to 7/8am, I was expecting an early nap.  I eat my breakfast during his nap and try to go back to sleep on the couch.
Around 7:30, the garbage truck goes down the driveway and wakes up Reid.  He falls back asleep after a pacifier reinsert.  Then around 7:45 he starts fussing and crying, luckily I am able to get him back to sleep with some rocking and singing. Ugh.  8:05 and he is fussing again.  Some singing and a pacifier and he is back to sleep.  This is going to be a long day.  Stupid alarm.  Again at 8:25, I had to go up rock and sing to Reid for him to go back to sleep.
9:00 - Reid is up from his nap.  After a quick diaper change it is time for him to eat.
9:05 - Feeding #2. Apparently today is the day to make a messy diaper well eating. I just changed him too.
9:25 - Play time.  We play on his playmat.  I get a good 5 minutes of tummy time out of him before he starts to get fussy.
I roll him over and we play on his back for a bit.
Then we pet the doggies before heading over to play in his jumperoo.
10:25 - He starts yawning and rubbing his eyes, so I take him upstairs to change his clothes (drool monster) and swaddle him.  A little song and rock and he is asleep.  I use this nap time to clean up the kitchen, figure out dinner, put away yesterdays target goodies and change the laundry.  I have to run up to Reid twice to put his pacifier back in.
11:35 - Reid is awake and hungry.  After a quick change, we come downstairs to eat.
11:40 - Feeding # 3.
11:55 - Playtime.  We play on his playmat some more.  He handles tummy time pretty well this time.  We play airplane and on his mat for a while.
12:40 - Another nap and another outfit covered in drool.  I swaddle up a naked baby and put him in his crib.  I use this nap time to change the dryer, cut the dogs nails and shop for 2 items that are apparently no longer available.  Of course there were the 4 times I had to stick his pacifier back in and rock some.
1:55 - Reid is awake, wet, and in need of some new clothes.
2:05 - Feeding # 4.  I trim Reid's nails while he eats.
2:20 - Playtime
2:45 - Naptime.  He was having nothing of sleeping in his crib and is conked out on my chest.
3:55 - Awake and cranky.
4:00 - Feeding # 5. He keeps falling asleep while eating.
4:15 - Playtime.  Just in time too.  Daddy is home.
5:15 - Naptime in his crib.  Neil and I talk, let the dogs out and do a few things around the house.  (I may have threatened beating him with a 2x4 if his alarm wakes up the baby again)
5:40 - Neil leaves to take Molly to the vet.
6:00pm - Reid is awake.  I am able to get him back to sleep but am not able to lay him down, so for the next 25 minutes we walk around the house and he sleeps.
6:25 - Neil and Molly get home.  Reid wakes up.
6:30 - Neil and Reid play while I start dinner.
6:45 - Feeding #6
6:55 - Neil gives Reid a bath while I work on dinner.
7:10 - We take a couple pictures outside real quick.
7:20 - Dinner time.  Reid hangs out in his jumperoo.  We both eat most of our dinner before he has had enough and I rescue him.
7:35 - Getting sleepy.  Swaddled and cuddling with Daddy.
7:45 - Asleep in his crib.  Neil gives Molly a bath while I lay on the couch and catch up on some blogging.  Then Neil and I watch a whole TV show uninterrupted!
9:00 - Reid is stirring so I go get him up. We play with Daddy for a bit.
9:15 - Feeding #7 - Neil gives Reid a bottle (4oz) while I pump.
9:30 - I prepare bottles for the night and tomorrow.
9:45 - We all head up to bed
10:15 - I fall asleep
2:30 - Reid starts to stir.
2:40 - Feeding # 8 - Neil gives Reid a bottle (4oz) while I pump downstairs.
3:00 - Everything is stored and we all are back to bed.  Reid stirs and fusses for his pacifier for the next hour, so my sleep was very interrupted.
5:20 - Reid is awake.  He eats some and falls back asleep cuddling with me.
6:25 - Awake again.  Feeding # 9.  He finishes eating.  Neil comes upstairs changes, dresses and cuddles with Reid while I get ready for the day again.

Excuse the crappy pictures, I didn't have the best light all day and did not want to edit them.
