Cleaning Schedule

When we found out we were pregnant (almost a year ago) there was talk of hiring a house keeper for when I go back to work.  We keep talking about it and are still undecided.

On one hand it would nice to not have to worry about making time to clean our house.  To come home every other week to a clean house would be perfection!

On the other hand, their is the cost to having a housekeeper. Our house is not huge, so in reality it shouldn't be that hard to keep clean.

For the time being we have decided to hold off on a cleaning service and try to keep up with the housework on our own.  That being said, if it gets to overwhelming and we have the money for it, we may go this route.

Anyways, this past week I have been furiously scrubbing the house from top to bottom.  My plan is to get everything clean... everything.  Then keep up with the cleaning each week.

I even made up a cute little schedule as follows:

Mondays - Living Room/Dining Room & Vacuum the entire downstairs
Tuesdays - All 3 bedrooms & Vacuum the entire upstairs
Wednesdays - Basement/Stairs/Kitchen & Vacuum the entire basement, stairwell and downstairs
Thursdays - Bathroom/Hallway/Stairs & Vacuum the entire upstairs and stairwell.
Fridays - Vacuum the entire downstairs
Weekends - Clean up outside, if needed.

So far this week everything has been cleaned except the extra bedroom and the bathroom.  Hopefully, I can get to them while Reid naps this weekend.  Then next week we are going to try to stick to the schedule.  I figure 30 minutes a night and we will have a nice clean house all week long.

  2. Have you ever checked out The Flylady? She has a great cleaning schedule and daily missions (that take less than 15 minutes)...I have found her system to be an invaluable tool!!
